What does an Accounting Specialist do at GEZE, Ms Ritz?
Sabine Ritz, a native of Stuttgart, completed her CSU degree programme at GEZE in business administration – and has been an important part of our Finance department ever since. In this story, she tells us why she is still so excited to work at GEZE after 15 years, and what she finds exciting about the accounting field.
Working according to generally accepted accounting principles …
After Sabina Ritz successfully completed her degree, her decision to remain at GEZE was an easy one: “Two main factors were decisive in my mind: First of all, I was offered an opportunity to work as an accounts payable bookkeeper in Finance, my preferred department; secondly, the experiences I had had at GEZE thus far had been completely positive!” As an Accountant, of course, she needs to understand generally accepted accounting principles and to work in a very precise way. “But in my role, it is also very important to understand the effects that individual postings have on the financial statement and the income statement”.

… and beyond
Over the last 35 years, this responsibility and ability to look beyond her own horizons have kept her interested in her work: In addition to classic bookkeeping tasks, she has also been able to collaborate on projects like introducing SAP in the subsidiaries, digitisation and more efficient design of process landscapes, or specific issues associated with travel and insurance management. This mix of duties is what excites Sabina Ritz. “I know it sounds unusual, but my work area and responsibilities have continued to change over the last 15 years. Project work in particular has consistently expanded my horizons. Speaking personally, I can say: Accounting is actually a very diverse, multi-faceted and exciting field!
I think it’s great that my work here is so diverse. I am always getting to know new colleagues and areas, and I am always growing.

Sabina Ritz also continues to grow in her personal life. The mother of two has plenty to say about how easy it is to balance career and family life at GEZE. “GEZE is not only a secure and reliable employer, but also offers lots of continuing development opportunities that help me advance in my career”. Sabina Ritz has been able to complete an advanced degree in international accounting, and thanks to flexible work time models and her great team, she is able to manage her professional and family life.
Of course, things can be stressful sometimes with two young children – you have to work on many issues at the same time ... But GEZE and my team make it easy for me to balance my work and private lives. For that, I am very thankful!

Precision at work and in life
Precision and resilience are two characteristics that shape Sabina Ritz’s personality, and that she shows in her accounting career and in her own life. In her youth, for example, she participated professionally in Latin formation dancing. “This sport requires a high level of discipline and resilience – it's not just about your ability as a dancer, but also about your precision and endurance. Eight pairs dance choreography with exactly defined movements and steps. They train as long and as often as they need to until everything is perfect”.
